I am currently reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac. As I left Texas and headed west for the first time I read the beautifully written words “I was halfway across America, at the dividing line between the East of my youth and the West of my future.”
I felt that way as a new scenery started to unfold before me. I saw thousands of miles I had only seen in films or pictures and there was the aura of wild west in the middle of nowhere at times. I passed through states I had never set foot in like New Mexico and Arizona and I was in awe of the great plains and red mountains.
Music has a way to capture souls and connect people from all around the world. It has the ability to inspire us, make us feel different emotions, and set moods for many scenarios.
Here is my epic road trip playlist for this beautiful country I call home. A playlist that seems to embody the essence of Jack Kerouac’s words and left me feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience something as extraordinary as this.
1. Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men
2. Mountain Sound by Of Monsters and Men
3. King and Lionheart by Of Monsters and Men
4. Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men
5. Lakehouse by Of Monsters and Men
6. Stubborn Love by The Lumineers
7. Home by Will Hanson
8. Whispers in the Dark by Mumford and Sons
9. Way Down We Go by Kaleo
10. Home by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros
America is often known for it’s major cities, like New York which I love, but thats not the real America. The United States is more than the cities people have built, it’s about the areas that should be left untouched so that when centuries pass, people are still able to see why the Native Americans chose this place as their home. A home to be loved, cherished and respected.
I hope you enjoy the playlist and your able to use it for your own epic adventure!
